Out with daypop, in with blogdex

blogdex - the weblog diffusion index

With the continuing problems at Daypop, I've had to turn to other sources to see what bloggers are linking to (in my case, mostly so I can avoid the me-too's).

I find myself using Blogdex in Daypop's place, so it seems only right for Daypop to cede its place on my blogroll. If you're surfing aimlessly, you can always find something interesting and new on Blogdex.

Building a blogroll

It may be a little too inside for some of you, but I'm going to document the process as I expand my 'blogroll. For non-bloggers, your blogroll is the set of links to other weblogs, often of a similar philsophical bent or with similar interests to your own.

My own blogroll is, well, pathetic when compared to Doc Searls (about 120 in his "blogrolodex"), and I'm ready to do something about it.

I'll be adding a few sites a day to my blogroll and documenting here why I think they make the grade.

First up, I'm cleaning up my existing links a bit: One friend's page out, one friend's page in, with Schmoop.org getting the boot, and forebrain sliding into its slot.

Also out: SatireWire. Close a place down, and soon enough (okay, a couple of months later), even I have enough sense to stop going there....

I'm also adding a few links to pages that have been kind enough to link to my ramblings: Inluminent, Scott Johnson's FuzzyBlog!, and John Mahoney's dispatches from miami beach.

More to come....
