Tour de France update - Stage 6
Erik Zabel of Team Telekom finally got his stage win, after 2 seconds and a third, and won his 12th career stage, joining Lance Armstrong and Mario Cipollini (who may be retiring) as the active riders with the most stage wins.
Zabel risked the loss of the green jersey to Australia's Robbie McEwen, who won enough points at intermediate sprints to lead Zabel on the road, but the 35 points awarded for the finishing sprint ensure that Zabel will hold the jersey, which he has won the last 6 years, for at least another day.
Overall standings don't change, although one rider (Rik Verbrugghe) didn't start the stage, and another (Alexandr Shefer) abandoned on the road.
Overall standings:
Gonzalez de Galdeano 23:29:03
Joseba Beloki at 4 secs
Lance Armstrong at 7 secs
